Labeled on the back '90.8' and '38c' possibly refers to images to be used for his book 'Great Waters'. Description from 'Great Waters' reads: 'Proud father and child: the author with his invention. The small propeller at the back (below the buoyancy chamber) drives the internal winding rollers as it rotates on being towed through the water'. Part of a collection of photographs and archives relating to Alister Hardy 1896-1985, zoologist on the Discovery Oceanographic Expedition 1925-1927.
