Article entitled, 'Did Byrd fly over the South Pole? - facts about the Great White Silence', written by Ernest E Joyce (seaman on both the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904 and Nimrod Expedition 1907-1909) on his thoughts about Scott, Shackleton and Byrd. Part of a scrapbook belonging to William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during BANZARE 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
