Christmas card, dated 1969 sent from Alister Hardy and his wife Sylvia. Front of card features a sketch (probably drawn by Hardy) of an iceberg redrawn from a watercolour made from the deck of RRS Discovery anchored of the coast of Graham Land during the 1925-1927 Oceanographic Expedition. Hardy states 'It is a unusually calm Antarctic summer days with a seal playing in an iceberg pool; Mount Parry (6,260 feet) on Brabant Island, is in the distance. The sky, sea and the shadows on the ice and snow are all an intense blue. Part of a collection of photographs and archives relating to Alister Hardy 1896-1985, zoologist on the Discovery Oceanographic Expedition 1925-1927.
