Commemorative Chocolate Card- Cairn errected to Oates

Card, souvenir card bearing a coloured illustration of a cairn with wooden cross on the top in an ice storm labelled, ‘Cairn erected to Captain Oates’, underneath which is the caption ‘Fry’s Coca and Chocolate Makers to H.M. the King’. The reverse of the card features the inscription ‘Hereabouts died a very gallant gentleman...’, ‘Captain Scott and the South Pole’ (the name of the series of cards) and the caption ‘Fry’s Pure Coca 300 Grands Prix Gold Medals’ all within a decorative boarder of coiled rope. Part of a complete set of 25 cards commemorating the Terra Nova Expedition 1910-12 issued by Fry’s chocolate (one of the expedition’s sponsors) in 1913.
