Copper Plate re. flag planting, Banzare expedition
Copper Plate mounted on wood recording raising of the flag on MacRobertson Land at Cape Adair 18 February 1931. Reads "The British Flag was hoisted and British Sovereignty asserted on the 18th day of February 1931". Part of a collection of objects associated with BANZARE (The British and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition) and K.N. McKenzie who sailed on "Discovery" as 1st Officer in the BANZARE expedition of 1929-30 and was Captain on the 2nd BANZARE expedition of 1930-31.
