Discovery Scrap Book

Large envelope marked in ink ' "Discovery" / "Scrapbook" ' on the back. The front is addressed in type to 'F. H. Harper, Esq., O.B.E., / Secretary, / Colonial Office, / Whitehall, / London, S.W., 1.' and has two stamps of total value 2 1/2 pence with Glasgow, Renfrew postmark, dated 7 November 1929. Inside the envelope is a folder containing (loose): a handwritten list '2 March 1937 / Present at Dinner' and notes; 2 menu cards for 'Colonial Office and "Discovery" Committee Dinner to F. H. Herper, Esq., M.B.E.' held at The Florence Restaurant, 2 March 1937; a two page latter on R.R.S. Discovery II headed paper to Mr and Mrs Harper from Leonard Hill dated 10 February 1936; one b/w photograph of the R.R.S. William Scoresby; two b/w photographs of penguins; nine b/w photographs of the R.R.S. Discovery II, one of which, of the launch, is accompanied by a compliments slip from Ferguson Brothers, Shipbuilders, Port-Glasgow; one postcard of the R.R.S. Discovery II; five newspaper cuttings relating to the R.R.S. Discovery II.
