\'Dundee Past and Present\' Book presented by Dundee and District Mill and Factory Operatives Union

Book, 'Dundee Past and Present' by William Kidd and Sons Publishers, Dundee (Second Edition 1910). This book is bound in maroon cloth with 'Dundee Past and Present' in gold lettering on the front and features the Dundee crest showing two dragons with the motto 'Die Donum/ Prudentia et Candorte'. Also on the front is a medallion in gold showing the Madonna and child surrounded by a Latin inscription 'Ave Maria sigillum commune villae da Dunde'.

This copy was presented to the Rev. Henry Williamson along with Lamb's Old Dundee and a bank cheque by committee collectors and members of the Dundee and District Mill and Factory Operatives Union to celebrate his 50 years jubilee in the city of Dundee, dated February 1916. Rev. Henry Williamson was founder and honorary president of the Dundee Mill and Factory Operatives Union (founded in 1885). The presentation took place on 24th March 1916 in Mid Street Hall, Dundee.
