Inclinometer for measuring tilt of the ship.

Inclinometer; for measuring the tilt of the ship. Wooden semi circular base with covering of brass sheet engraved with scale of 0-90 degrees both left and right from centre vertical position of 0 degrees. Arrow shaped brass pointer. Engraved "RRS Discovery 1901". The engraving "RRS Discovery 1901" must have been done after 1901 as the ship was not Royal Research Ship at this date. Inclinometer was lent to Ranulph Fiennes' Transglobe Expedition April 1979 by The Maritime Trust in London who owned the object at that date - typed label on back.
