Photograph Album: containing 148 black and white prints (+13 loose) annotated photographs, relating to the 1931-1933 Antarctic Expedition of RRS Discovery II. Boards covered in brown "leatherette" with "ALBUM" in gold in bottom right hand corner. Inside of front board has handwritten "G. Mepham/61 Glenister PK Rd./Streacham/ SW16/Antarctic Expedition 1931- 1933" with photo of RRS Discovery II "Ice Bound" and newspaper cutting re sailing from London. Photos in the album show the ship, crew and landscapes. Loose Photographs: 1) "Some of the crew , me with hat on in middle/chef's" 2) Shackleton's grave, South Georgia. 3) Whale carcass S. Georgia. 4) Church S. Georgia 5) Seal Pup. 6-9) S. Georgia landscape 10-13) Icebergs. Album relates to a collection belonging to George Mepham who worked on the Discovery II as a wardroom cook.
