Thomas Whitfield\'s 1914-1915 Star Medal
Medal , the 1914-195 Star (nicknamed Pip) displayed on a red, white and blue striped ribbon and presented to Thomas Whitfield, one of the stokers onboard the Discovery on the National British Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904, for his service during World War I. Medal takes the shape of a four-pointed star with crown at top, 2 crossed swords and laurel wreath. Inscribed with ‘G.V. ‘ monogram and ‘1914-15’. The reverse of the star is plain with the recipient’s service number, rank, name and unit impressed on it.
