Thomas Whitfield\'s British War Medal 1914-1918

Medal, silver British War Medal 1914-1918 (nicknamed Squeak) displayed on an orange, blue, white and black striped ribbon, presented to Thomas Whitfield, one of the stokers onboard the Discovery on the British National Antarctic Exhibition 1901-1904. On one side is the image of George V looking left with the words, ‘Georious V Britt. Omn: Rex et Ind: Imp’ around the King’s profile. On the reverse is an image of a horseman with a sword in his right hand, skull and crossbones below. Around the rim is the recipient’s service number, tank, name and unit: ‘149832 T. Whitfield G.H. 910 RN’.
