Drill
Drill: vertical drill and stand driven by seared belt system with power taken from. This drill, originally driven by the line shafting, was used to alter and adapt machine parts. The stepped pulley system to the right would act like gears, allowing the user to control the speed. This was produced by the Dundee engineering firm William McLean and Sons Ltd. Founded in 1878 and based at Fairmuir Street, this company manufactured engines and machinery until 1972.
