Early exploding harpoon

Whaling harpoon, iron;double shaft with two barbed swivelling hooks (now stuck) and explosive head. The shaft is painted black and the hooks and head have been polished. Pointed tip head denotes an early form of explosive harpoon, as later example have flat tips, fired from whaling ship canons.
