Envelope, addressed to Lieutenant W. Colbeck, "Karmeene", 3 Salworthy Green, Childewall, Liverpool 10. Postmarked April, 1938. In handwriting: "Paper Sir Clements Markham re Shackleton". Contained a typed Royal Geographical Society document which had been written by Sir Clements Markham in February 1914. Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during the Banzare Expedition 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
