Envelope, addressed to Sub-Lieut. W. Colbeck, 225 Anlaby Road, Hull, postmarked London 30/4/1901 with the crest of Sir Clements Markham (President of the Royal Geographical Society) on the rear of the envelope. Contained a letter written by Markham informing Colbeck the Society were to give him an award for services to Antarctica. Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William Colbeck, Captain of the "Morning", which made two trips to Antarctica as a relief vessel for the "Discovery" during the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
