Part of a collection relating to William (Bill) Kennedy. Born in 1896 he left school at 14 and became an apprentice at a jute mill (where his father also worked as an engineer). In 1914, aged 18 he enlisted for WW1 as part of the Royal Engineers. In the 1920s he went to work in the jute Industry over in Calcutta with his wife Ester (Tess) and daughter Marjorie (born 1929). Tess and Marjorie returned to Dundee before WWII, unknown when Bill returned.
