Horse, model made from china. Painted brown with white and grey hooves and a dark brown mane. Wearing a harness made from leather with metal chains. The blinkers are decorated with metal diamond shapes. Cart, model made from wood, has two wheels, unpainted and includes metal fittings and wheel rims. Model belonging to a set and includes a horse and two loose lamps, length of chain, leather strap and wooden pole with metal end cap and depicts the carts which would have been used for transporting raw jute bales from Docks/warehouses up to the mills. The maker, William A. Crighton was a joiner by profession and made the model as a hobby in the1980s when he was about 70 years old and retired.
