Landing on South Georgia
Slide, lantern slide depicting a black and white drawing of 6 men hauling a boat (The James Caird) out of the water, relating to the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-1915. The original annotation on the slide reads 'Landing on South Georgia.' The James Caird was able to land on a South Georgia beach at King Haakon Bay in order to find help for the rest of the expedition party stranded on Elephant island after their ship 'The Endurance' sunk. Part of a collection of fifty eight slides depicting scenes from various Antarctic expeditions.
