Letter from William Weller to family re. Discovery Expedition

This autograph letter is signed by William Weller, (Able Seaman and dog handler on the Discovery during the British National Antarctic 1901-1904). The letter is addressed to his father and Alice, dated 8 June 1903, addressed S.S. Discovery, McMurdo Sound, Victoria Land, ten pages signed W.I. Weller.
The Letter contains news of the expedition, including his eyewitness account of the loss of Seaman George Vince. Weller discusses the activity of chasing penguins in order to keep warm.
Originally from Kent and a member of the London Fire Brigade, Weller joined the Discovery at Lyttleton, bringing his experience of handling dogs gained when part of the Jackson-Harmsworth Expedition to the Arctic (1894-97).
