Map 'Shewing Dundee in 1687'

Map " Shewing Dundee in 1687". Taken fron Dundee Edition of Peoples Journal, 4th of February 1888. The map depicts Dundee on the side of the Tay with the surrounding hills. The map views Dundee from the East and the foreground includes women washing clothes and there are a number of vessels on the Tay. Below the map is printed: " Prospectus Civitatus TAODUNI ab Oriente. The Propect of ye Town of Dundee from ye East. This plate is most humbly inscribed to ye Honble Coll. William Ker Collonel of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales's Regiment of Dragoons & one of ye Grooms of the Bed Chamber to His Majestie Printed for John Bowles & Son at the Black Horse in Cornhill.
On th reverse is written Old Dundee, Scotland and Old Dundee Map 1872

The map was collected by the donors mother at some time before 1949 when she moved to New Zealand.
