Nine cubes joined vertically forming a Tower Block

Nine cubes joined vertically, painted with transparent white and with windows and door shape chiselled out, Signed "2009 DSA/ Peter Russell/ "Tower-block"/1960's/1970's rehousing of former mill workers' families to estates". Created as part of the “Juteopolis SSA Collaborative Sculpture Annual Exhibition 2009". Here members of the Society of Scottish Artists embellished 10cm x 10cm wooden cubes, taking jute as their subject matter. These cubes were then laid out on the floor in the shape of a lade to create a large collaborative floor sculpture, exhibited at the Vision Building, Dundee. In 2010 these cubes were also exhibited in the machine hall at Verdant Works.
