Oil Painting of the County of Inverness sailing vessel

Oil Painting mounted in a gilt frame depicting the "County of Inverness" (1877-1947) a 4-masted iron sailing vessel under full sail. This ship was commissioned by R&J Craig of Glasgow to transport jute on the Scottish East India Line between Great Britain (Dundee and Cardiff) and India (Bombay and Calcutta) which she did for 22 years, between 1877 and 1899. It is believed to be have been painted by Lai Fong (1887-1910) a leading pier-head painter working on the Hooghly River Calcutta who produced art work of many of the "County" clipper ships, known as "Craig's Counties".
