Postcard, part of a collection of archives relating to the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904. This particular object is a postcard featuring a black and white photograph depicting four men preparing dogs and sledge on a ice shelf beneath a mountain and is captioned ‘Expedition Antarctique Charcot 1903-1905 – La Maison sur le Traineau’ (Charcot's Antarctic Expedition 1903-05 the house on the Traineau). To the right of the card Jean Baptist Charcot (leader of the French Antarctic Expedition 1903-1905) has written his best wishes to Thomas Hodgson (marine biologist onboard the Discovery expedition). The card is marked ‘Punta Arenas Decembre 1908’.
