Reference letter for Ronald Oliver

Letter, reference letter from John Ross (Mechanical Manager for Jute Industries - Caldrum Works), dated 25th December 1931. It confirms that Ronald Oliver has been employed by Jute Industries as an apprentice mechanic from 5th January 1926 to 5th January 1931 and continued as journeyman until 24th December 1931. He states that 'during this time he has been very steady and good workman and we have only parted with him for the lack of work. I have every confidence in him giving satisfaction to any firm who may employ him'. This also includes the original envelope addressed to 'Ronald Oliver 67, Dens Road, Dundee, Angus'. Part of a collection of objects and archives belonging to Ronald Oliver (1910-1978) who worked as a maintenance fitter for Jute Industries mainly in Caldrum and Manhattan Works.
