Letter, printed in 'The Geographical Journal Vol. XX, No 2. London: The Royal Geographical Society' dated August 1902 , sent from Sir William Huggins and Sir Clements Markham to Robert Falcon Scott, entitled "The officer commanding the National Antarctic Expedition". Sir William Huggins was president of the Royal Society and Sir Clements Markham was President of the Royal Geographical Society. Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William Colbeck, Captain of the "Morning", which made two trips to Antarctica as a relief vessel for the "Discovery" during the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
