signed book The Antarctic Challenge by Admiral Lord Mountevans, blue cover with title and authors name on spine. publishers name 'Staples and crest on front cover. two inscriptions hand written in blue ink one on title page 'To Mr & Mrs Askew form Mountevans' other on next page again in blue ink 'To Gwen & Tommy from Teddy' 4 newspaper cuttings are glued in at rear of book, they are dated 1957 and are about the death of Lord Mountevans. A signed photo was found inside (DUNIH 2021.33.1.2) also inside a print of Mount Erebus (DUNIH 2021.33.1.3). Part of a collection of items associated with the 1984-86 Antarctic Expedition "in the footsteps of Scott" donated from Helen Symington who along with her sister, Hilda Ford (a Senior Sister at King Edward VIII Hospital), knitted Arran sweaters for the crew who went out.
