Capt. Surgeon E.L. Atkinson.

Photograph, black and white, mounted and framed of Captain Edward Leciester Atkinson, a Royal naval surgeon appointed as the Terra Nova Expedition's physician and parasitologist. He was in command of the expedition's base at Cape Evans for much of 1912, and led the search party which found the tent containing the bodies of Scott, Bowers and Wilson. Part of a collection of items formerly belonging to the late Mr A. Eric Larg and Miss Margaret Scott Larg, former residents of Burnside, Glen Prosen a house used in the planning of the Terra Nova Expedition by Edward Wilson and Robert Falcon Scott.
