Commemorative Chocolate Card- The Polar Party

Card, souvenir card bearing a coloured illustration of the Polar Party: Bowers, Oates, Scott, Wilson and Evans, who all died on the ill fated journey back from the pole labelled, ‘Lieut. R. Bowers, Captn. Oates, Captn. Scott, Dr. Wilson, and Seaman Evans’, underneath which is the caption ‘Fry’s Coca and Chocolate Makers to H.M. the King’. The reverse of the card features details of the tragedy, ‘Captain Scott and the South Pole’ (the name of the series of cards) and the caption ‘Fry’s Pure Coca 300 Grands Prix Gold Medals’ all within a decorative boarder of coiled rope. Part of a complete set of 25 cards commemorating the Terra Nova Expedition 1910-12 issued by Fry’s chocolate (one of the expedition’s sponsors) in 1913.
