Photograph, black and white, showing a close up of the stone plaque on the Scott memorial erected in Port Chalmers, New Zealand. This reads, 'In memoriam Capt Robert Falcon Scott, Dr Edward Adrian Wilson, Capt Lawrence Oates, Lieut Henry H. Bowers, Petty Officer Edgar Evans. Who sailed in the Terra Nova from this port on November 19th 1910 and reached the South Pole on January 17th 1912, but lost their lives on the homeward journey'. It then quotes Scott's last message to the people. Dated 30th May 1914.
