Letter from Gareth Wood to Sister H Ford

Letter, complete with original envelope, sent from Gareth Wood to Sister Hilda Ford updating her on the progress of the expedition and of them wearing the jumpers she knitted. Typed and written on official stationary complete with the official In the Footsteps of Scott, Antarctic Expedition 1984-86 header and footer. Dated Cape Evans, 14 August 1985, Envelope has 3 Ross Dependency stamps which feature Scotts Hut, Cape Evans and Tracked Vehicles. Addressed to Sister Hilda Ford, Ward 1, King Edward VII Hospital, Beaumont Street, London W1, England. This has been crossed out and 121 Dundee Rd, Broughty Ferry Dundee, Dundee, Scotland. Also has AIRMAIL written to the left of the address. On rear it had been stamped with the official In the Footsteps of Scott, Antarctic Expedition 1984-86 Ross Island Base and Men pulling sledge logo
The letter consists of two pages and starts of being hand written Dear Hilda, and then is typed, on the second page 3/4s of the way down it changes back to being hand written and ends Kind regards, Gareth
Part of a collection of items associated with the 1984-86 Antarctic Expedition "in the footsteps of Scott" donated from Helen Symington who along with her sister, Hilda Ford (a Senior Sister at King Edward VIII Hospital), knitted Arran sweaters for the crew who went out.
