Slide, lantern slide depicting a black and white image of Edward Wilson (chief of scientific staff), Lieutenant Henry Bowers and Apsley Cherry-Gerrard (assistant zoologist) on their return from Cape Crozier as part of the Terra Nova Expedition 1910-1912. The original annotation reads 'Back from the worst journey in the world.' The party wnet to Cape Crozier on Ross Island in the middle of the Antarctic winter, to recover Emperor Penguin eggs. The cold was so intense on this journey that their teeth cracked with tempartures of -60oC. Cherry-Gerrard described this as 'the worst journey in the world'. Part of a collection of fifty eight slides depicting scenes from various Antarctic expeditions.
