Slide, lantern slide depicting a black and white image of Captain Robert Falcon Scott's 43rd birthday dinner, dated 6th June 1911. The annotation incorrectly reads 'mid-winter dinner in the hut.' Those present from left to right; Cecil Meares (in charge of dogs), Apsley Cherry-Gerrard (Assistant zoologist),T. Griffith Taylor (geologist), Edward Nelson (biologist),Edward Evans (Lieutenant), Captain Robert Falcon Scott (centre), Edward Adrian Wilson (chief of scientific staff and biologist), George Simpson (Meteorologist), Henry Robertson Bowers (Lieutenant), Charles S.Wright (Physicist), Frank Debenham (Geologist) and Bernard Day (Motor engineer). Standing are Lawrence Oates (Lieutenant) (on the left) and Tryggve Gran (ski expert) (right). The hut was decorated with sledging flags. Part of a set of sixty seven black and white lantern slides held in a wooden box depicting scenes mostly from the Terra Nova Expedition 1910-1912, with a few concerning the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition 1914-1915.
