Menu, for Christmas 1930. Kept in a buff cardboard folder with the BANZARE crest printed in the bottom right hand corner. The first page features a black and white photograph of the Discovery, with the caption ‘S.Y. Discovery Adelie Land Christmas 1930’. The next page contains a bird’s feather labeled ‘Antarctic Petrel’. The final page features the menu, surrounded by images of all officers and scientists onboard BANZARE, with their signatures underneath their image. Men from top left hand corner clockwise: Karl.E. Johnston (Chief of scientific staff), William R Colbeck (Second officer), Bernard F. Welch (Second Engineer), Stewart A .C. Campbell (chief pilot), Ritchie G. Simmers (Meteorologist), Arthur M. Stanton (Chief Officer), John B. Child (Third Officer), Robert A. Falla (Ornithologist), Harold O. Fletcher (Assistant Biologist), Arthur J. Williams (Wireless Operator), Dr. William W. Ingram (Medical Officer), Alexander L. Kennedy (Physicist), Eric Douglas (Second Pilot), Alfred Howard (Chemist), Wilfred J. Griggs (Chief Engineer), J.Frank Hurley (Photographer). Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during the Banzare Expedition 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
