Dip Compass

Compass, brass with glass faces, used to measure the magnetic intensity of the earth. The magnetic field interferes with regular compasses, however a dip compass identifies the pole by "dipping" when over the pole. This instrument is mounted on a brass tripod, the legs of which are adjust in height.
