Photograph, black and white, of officers and crew from BANZARE onboard the RRS Discovery in London1929 just before the beginning of the expedition. Handwritten note on the back of the photograph naming the men (left to right): Seaman Marsden (probably F.Leonard Marsland), J.B. Child (third officer), Captain K.N. MacKenzie (Chief Officer), Seaman Martin (James H. Martin, the Bosun), Captain J.K. Davis (ship's captain), Mr. Wilfred J. Griggs (chief engineer), Mr. William R. Colbeck (second officer), Mr Bernard F. Welch (second engineer), Petty Officer Arthur J. Williams (Wireless Operator). Also photgraphers stamp present: Johnson's Court, Fleet Street, EC 4 Phone Cebtral 5335-6. Belonging to a collection of photographs associated with William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during the Banzare Expedition 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
