print of Mount Erebus, Print was found inside book(DUNIH 2021.33.1.1) print is mounted on card and has the following text on front 'Mt. Erebus seen in 1901 during Scott's last Antarctic expedition' Printed on reverse is 'Edward Adrian Wilson died with Scott on the return journey from the South Pole. Of him, Scott wrote in one of his last letters:- "I should like you to know splendid he was at the end - everlastingly cheerful and ready to sacrifice himself for others, never a word of blame to me for leading him into this mess..." "His eyes have a comfortable blue look of hope and his mind is peaceful with the satisfaction of his faith in regarding himeself as part of the great scheme of the Almighty . . . he died as he lived, a brave, true man-- the best comrades and staunchest of friends." ' . Part of a collection of items associated with the 1984-86 Antarctic Expedition "in the footsteps of Scott" donated from Helen Symington who along with her sister, Hilda Ford (a Senior Sister at King Edward VIII Hospital), knitted Arran sweaters for the crew who went out.
