Article entitled, 'Commander Byrd flies to the South pole - 1600 miles Antarctic dash in one day - special wireless to the Daily Chronicle - back last night - flight over 12,000 feet range of mountains', illustrated with images and maps. Part of a scrapbook belonging to William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during BANZARE 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
