Newspaper cutting, taken from the "Chronicle", dated 21/2/1930. Entitled 'How Byrd's relief ship battled through - fight with ice & gale - perilous passage to the barrier - scarred by ordeal - how Byrd & his men were taken off', relating to the Byrd Expedition 1928-1930. Part of a scrapbook belonging to William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during BANZARE 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
