Newspaper cutting, taken from the "Star", dated 24/1/1930. Article entitled, 'SOS from Antarctic - Commander Byrd cut off by pack ice - rescue appeals - expedition in danger of disaster'. Part of a scrapbook belonging to William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during BANZARE 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
