Lieut Bowers of Terra Nova expedition
Postcard, souvenir postcard featuring a black and white photograph of Lieutenant Henry Robertson Bowers. Taken by Herbert Ponting as part of the Terra Nova Expedition 1910-1912 and dated 11th October 1911. Produced 'By permission of the Fine Art Society, 145 New Bond St. W.'. Bowers, nicknamed ‘Birdie’ because of his protuberant nose was the Commissariat Officer of the Expedition and was chosen for the ill fated Polar Party because of his stamina and efficiency.
