Article relating to Norwegian land claims
Newspaper cutting, taken from "The Times"and dated 31/12/1929. Article entitled, 'Nowegian expedition' relating to Captain Hjalmar Riiser-Larson, of the "Norvegia" who made contact with Sir Douglas Mawson, "Discovery" as land claims overlapped. Although both governments agreed on claims, territorial arguments continued for long time amongst Norwegian historians. Norwegian and British maps showed little compromise, and continued to use thrir own names for features. Part of a scrapbook belonging to William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during BANZARE 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
