Invitation, souvenir card commemorating the departure of the relief ship "Morning " from Lyttelton New Zealand which was en-route to Antarctica, dated Oct.24,1903. As well as containing information on its departure the card also contains two black and white images. The first is a drawing of Winter Quarter Bay titled 'Where the Discovery has wintered on the edge of the Great Ice Sheet' and the second depicts the Morning in Antarctic seas with the sun blazing in the background. Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William Colbeck, Captain of the "Morning", which made two trips to Antarctica as a relief vessel for the "Discovery" during the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
