Letter, typed copy, written from W.L. Wharton (hydrographer and chairman of the Antarctic Relief Comitee ) to William Colbeck, dated London S.W., 6/8/1903. This document officially appoints Colbeck as Captain of the Morning and the Antarctic Relief mission for their second expedition in 1903. Attached is Colbeck's reply which officially accepts this post. Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William Colbeck, Captain of the "Morning", which made two trips to Antarctica as a relief vessel for the "Discovery" during the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
