Log, BANZARE from MacRobertson Land to Tasmania

Ship's log, handwritten copy, entitled 'B.A.N.Z.A.R.E., MacRobertson Land to Tasmania, Februrary-March, 1931'. A ships log is used to determine the distance a ship has travelled during a certain amount of time. The readings are recorded in equal times to give the distance travelled with respect to a given start position. This handwritten log would have been one of many such logs recorded during the expedition. Belonging to a collection of papers associated with William R. Colbeck, 2nd Officer on the "Discovery" during Banzare 1929-1931 and son of William Colbeck, captain of the "Morning", the relief ship for the Discovery during the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904.
