Scrap book/album compiled by Sir Clements Markham (President of the Royal Geographical Society and instigator of the National Antarctic Expedition 1901-04). Contains photographs, newspaper cuttings and postcards relating to the expedition. Bound in black leather, decorated with gold tooling. Inscriptions and titles in Sir Clement Markham's own hand.

Ernest Shackleton, Lt. Reginald Skelton, Thomas Hodgson, Reginald Koettlitz. William Shackleton proved unpopular with the crew and Markham, subsequently failing his dental examinations therefore never actually going on the expedition. He was replaced by Louis Bernacchi leading to Markham removing his head on the photograph.
