Sports day, crew of \"Discovery\" 1902.

Programme; relating to a sports day for the crew of Discovery, 8 November 1902 in honour of King Edward VII's birthday. Printed via mimeograph process, the event was organized by Charles R Ford (Ship's steward) and Jacob Cross (Petty Officer). Running order: Toboggan Slide (1st- Arthur Quartley (stoker) and William Hubert (Donkeyman) 2nd- Seaman Frank Wild and Thomas Whitfield (stoker)). Sledge Dragging (Dr Reginald Koettlitz's team). Putting the Weight (1st- Charles Clarke (cook) seaman Arthur Pilbeam). Tug of war followed by dinner and a royal salute. In the second half there was a Shooting Competition, Ski Slope Running (1st Reginald Skelton (chief engineer) 2nd seaman J.Walker 3rd J.Duncan (shipwright)). Finally the day ended with Sledge Dragging on skis and a General Flat Race.
