Bronze City and Guilds Spinning Medal given to William Johnston
Medal, Bronze City & Guilds medal for given for 'Jute Spinning' to William Johnston (donor's grandfather) who was company secretary at a jute mill (perhaps M.C. Gill). Front of the medal inscribed 'H.M. King Edward VII President 1881-1900, patron 1901' surrounding relief head of the king. Reverses side inscribed 'City and Guilds of London Institute/ Technical education' surrounding a central decorative cartouche with 'Technological/ Examination' across middle. Around the edge of the medal is engraved 'William Johnston, Jute Spinning 3rd Prize, 1906'.
