Leather bellows

Bellows: leather bellows, metal staud and wooden lower handle. Used to create a strong, continuous blast of air, these would have been used to stoke the fire in a blacksmiths forge. These were made by John C. Onions Limited, Birmingham and date from the late 19th Century. This company was established in 1650 and manufactured smiths bellows, portable forges, hearths and tools.
