Porter/ Sett Measure
Porter/Sett Measure, made from stainless steel, used by a tenter to measure how many threads are in a particular section and therefore determine the ‘reed’ (finess/coarness) of the fabric. The bottom section is an inch gauge. Stamped with the letter W.M. this measure is stored in a hand-made leather pouch The two small holes at either side of the object may have been used to attach the porter gauge to a chain to be worn around the owner's neck.
