Sharpening stone

Sharpening stone: circular stone mounted in cast metal stand. Made from limestone grit, this would have been used for sharpening hardened tools, particularly the axes used within the batching department to open the raw jute bales. The stone would sit in a pool of water in order to keep it cool.
